Gentlewomen of chidoriya No. 5:
Name: Gwendolyn Zabicki
Title: Captain (no, not really)
When did you start painting?
In high school, I dabbled in painting but didn’t really start until college.
Did you go to art school? If yes, which school did you go to?
Yes, I went to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago
What was the best thing you learned at school?
The best thing I learned was in an art history class taught by Robert Loescher. He taught us those boring old paintings are actually sexy, fun, and relatable.
How do you get inspirations for your art? What inspires you the most?
Windows, light, and looking
What are you working on right now?
I am working on a series of paintings of mirrors reflecting windows and doorways. It is very confusing.
What makes you smile?
What makes you cry?
Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood
What do you do on your day off?
I play tennis in the park and do tennis dances afterward, which you can see here: https://www.instagram.com/gwendolynz/
What are you working on right now? and
do you have any new & exciting projects coming up Winter ~ 2019?
What's most important for you being a professional painter?
Spending lots of time in the studio and going to art openings. Both are very important!
Where could we purchase your paintings?
You can contact me through my website: www.gwendolynzabicki.com
As you are one of our best customers.... what are your favorite items from Chidoriya's line?
I love the cotton and silk facial cloth. People actually notice when I use it and tell me how good my skin looks.
Is there any quote you like and want to share?
This is one I think about a lot. It is from the poem The Little Gidding, by T. S. Eliot
We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.
